Thats a great article on design except that it starts off with a picture of an airplane as an example of good design, and you don't need an airplane to fly, so isn't that an example of bad design? I really like what the words on that page say but when I look at the top of the page and I see a picture of an airplane I keep feeling like I am at a school dance with all my friends and all of the sudden I notice that there are green tenticles sticking out of everyone's clothes. I may be the only one at the party who believes in human powered flapping flight but it isn't too much of a stretch to see that real complicated 20th century technology is not an example of good simple funny design, is it? Couldn't they have chosen something like a boomerang or a feather? Or even just the wheel itself, eventhough I am of the opinion that the wheel is where we went wrong in the first place.

That's a perfect example. A boomerang or a feather is good simple funny democratic design -- a wheel and an axle -- bad republican design. To a wheel guy there is us and them. To a boomerang guy we're all in a great big pile. He didn't have to go into the airplane stuff. That's like putting salt on a wound. It's bad enought that we have been forcing the wheel down eachothers throats for 10,000 years, why did he have to put the pinacle of all bad, needless design at the top of the page?

...There are two kinds of people in the world -- the kind of people who think there are two kinds of people in the world and those of us who know better.
